Founded in 2012, Gavin Clarke Tattoos was born out of a passion for tattoos and the art involved. I started as all tattoo artists do by tattooing all styles (Japanese, Traditional, dotwork, blackwork and religious style tattoos), I realised that my main skill was in tattoo realism and soon fell in love with tattooing portraits, in both black & grey / colour.
Now I specialise in black & grey only, tattooing portraits of humans and wildlife.
At Gavin Clarke Tattoos, I believe that every tattoo should be a work of art. That's why I work closely with my clients to understand their vision and create custom designs that exceed their expectations.
Over the years, I have received numerous awards for my portrait work both in the UK and overseas.

Having a portrait tattoo, especially that of a family member means you must really do your homework on choosing the correct artist. I will require a high definition photo of the family member.
I personally love doing black and grey family portraits, and am honoured every time I am asked to create one for my clients.

Whether it’s your favourite musician, sports star, actor or movie star, here at Gavin Clarke Tattoos I can create the perfect likeness on your skin.
Contact me with your requirements and we can discuss your final image and get you booked in.

Wildlife tattoo portraits are timeless. They will always look good and with so many amazing photos out there you will be spoilt for choice on the image that perfectly represents you, different images can be put together to create your ideal tattoo sleeve or back piece.
I really enjoy tattooing wildlife photos and have many images that can be used for a tattoo reference so be sure to contact me to discuss your requirements.
Also, as with the family portraits, a pet tattoo gives a permanent reminder of the unconditional love of our furry / feathered friends, I am always honoured when asked to immortalise your pets in a black and grey portrait tattoo.

One of the services I offer for those who wish to cover a larger area in one sitting are these large scale tattoos. These work best on the outer or inner arm or leg.
They are carefully designed to make sure we get the an impressive amount of detail into the black and grey tattoos, but using high contrast tones this also allows us to cover bigger areas of skin.
This style of tattooing can work using Chicano black and grey realism too, but will not work with the precision details required in stand alone hyper realism tattoos.
Let me know if you are interested in this type of tattoo and we will go through your ideas together to create you the perfect tattoo.
